SZA has taken to social media to share the exciting news of a new acting role she has secured. Details of the role are still yet to surface but judging by the R&B stars post – it’s going to be big!

The songstress shared a delicious looking cake to her Instagram story that read “Congrats record breaker and fire actress” with the caption “Can’t believe I got the part I wanted. She’s an actress”, accompanied by some emojis of course.

The first part of the cake is in reference to her record-breaking single I Hate U which broke an Apple Music’s R&B streaming record earlier this month. The official release of the track scored the biggest first-week streams of all-time on the platform for an R&B song by a female artist.

The single was originally released as a demo back in August alongside some others named Nightbird and Joni. The collection of demos were uploaded anonymously on Soundcloud under an account named “.”. After speculation grew, SZA confirmed the demos were in fact hers and she was just “dumping random thoughts”.

The demo to I Hate U eventually went viral on TikTok, almost forcing SZA to officially release it. “Honestly this started out as an exercise. I just wanted somewhere to dump my thoughts w out pressure,” SZA wrote on Instagram before the song’s release. “Y’all made it a thing and I’m not mad lmao. Ask and u shall receive.”

It is unclear whether I Hate U will be on SZA’s follow up album following her debut album ‘CTRL’ back in 2017. Congratulations to SZA on the new record and for securing the new acting role – we can’t wait to see what comes from it!
