Beyoncé & Billie Eilish have made big moves to kick the year off after being nominated for best original song at the 2022 Oscars this year. It’s the first time Beyoncé has been recognised as a contender thanks to the original soundtrack Be Aliv,  from the movie King Richard – which depicts the story of Serena and Venus William’s father Richard catapulting his two daughters into the tennis world.

Billie Eilish has also secured a nomination for her ‘No Time To Die’ theme song to the latest Bond movie which was created alongside her brother and frequent producer Finneas – The original soundtrack also secured a golden globe for best original song earlier this year. Billie took to social media to convey her excitement for the nomination.

In recent years, Best Original Song was won by H.E.R., Elton John, and Lady Gaga. The Coco song “Remember Me” won in 2018 over Sufjan Stevens’ Call Me by Your Name standout “Mystery of Love.” La La Land’s “City of Stars” won the award in 2017—the same year that film was erroneously announced as Best Picture.

Congratualtions to both Beyoncé & Billie Eilish, they are both winners in our eyes!
